The Company
With over 30 years experience servicing the interior design and decorator market; Matthew Wailes specialises in the design, production and installation of the finest hand and machine made carpets and rugs for both residential & commercial applications. We provide a full supply & installation service of the very highest quality, whether that be for one-off custom rugs or for larger fully fitted installations.
Showroom
Our Lots Road showroom is available for all customers to use as a sourcing facility; we have hundreds of samples and many full rugs to view. We also carry a wide selection of high quality stock broadloom collections.
Bespoke Handmade Production:
All of our Bespoke Handmade products are woven exclusively to our exacting requirements by specialised craftspeople, using only traditional production techniques and the very best quality of raw materials. From yarn spinning & dyeing to washing & finishing, all processes are carried out by highly skilled Artisans using techniques passed from generation to generation.
Design
All Bespoke handmade area rugs and carpets are custom woven to order with no minimum quantity required – a full in-house design service is available; we use the latest design technology produced specifically for handmade production combined with traditional hand drafting techniques. Our texture simulation facility allows for realistic interpretation of design, colours, texture and fibres, this process allows clients a good understanding of any given visual effect and design scale prior to manufacture. Many images shown within our ‘Bespoke Handmade Collections’ have been created using this technology.
Colours
Custom colours can usually be selected from our extensive collection of tufts – we have thousands of colours from which to choose. Alternatively customers may submit their own choices for matching purposes.
New - Studio Colour Box: We have carefully selected 200 of our customers favourite Silk & Wool colours, presented in a space-conscious compact box. This allows Designers to make colour selections within their own Studio for use in conjunction with any of our custom colour products & online design library; visual presentations, custom samples & production orders can then be processed with the utmost efficiency. Samples
We recommend that samples be supplied for client approval prior to the ordering of any area rug or fitted carpet, be that for Bespoke or Standard carpet collections; this will ensure full satisfaction of your finished order: 2-4 weeks should be allowed for custom items. Samples of all standard collections are available either from our Lots Road showroom or to order from our Suppliers.
Standard collections
In addition to our bespoke handmade products, we carry an extensive collection of standard carpet lines which can be applied to fully fitted installations, tailored area rugs, stair Carpets & runners.
Production
Production times vary according to manufacturing method; custom orders will normally take between 8-14 weeks from date of order & approval of sample (Larger or complex pieces may take longer). We will always provide an estimated production schedule.
Cashmere
Our luxurious collection of exclusive Hand Loomed Cashmere Throws/Bedspreads are manufactured exclusively to our own design and colour specifications by the leading Cashmere Weaving House in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Estimating & Installation
A full Estimating & installation service can be provided if required, whether simply to lay out a rug or to install more complicated fully-fitted projects. Our surveyors & installers have decades of experience working with the very highest quality products; some of which require specialised planning & handling during this important process.
We also provide anti-slip underlay which is strongly recommended to be used with all ‘free-standing’ rugs; this will help to reduce floor movement and any distortion of the carpets’ shape.
